Alhamdulellah, the Greater Washington Islamic Center has officially been registered and began its work on the happy occasion of the birthday of Imam Hasaan Askari (as), 8th of Rabi-ul-thani coninciding with January 7th, 2017. It has been registered as an incorporation in the state of Maryland and efforts are underway to obtain its non-profit status.

A great emphasis of our work is is placed on family as the nucleous of Islamic Umma. Marriage and family consultation, youth programs, building Islamic relationships with other Muslim communities, bringing Quran into mainstream family structure, introducing Ahlulbait (as) way of life and teaching and interfaith efforts are some of the main goals we are pursuing. The Greater Washington Islamic Center Inc. has been established with ideas and goals to help to help the Muslim community in the region achieve its goals in accordance to Islamic teachings of Ahlulbait (as). A group of highley educated scholars from the Qum Seminary, university scholars and creative minds have gathered to consult Muslim families, perform Islamic rituals on prescribed occasions, educate and be a conduit for communication between communities of interfath.
